Women Against Prostate Cancer Announces New Hampshire Chapter

Manchester, NH—March 25, 2013… Women Against Prostate Cancer has announced the formation of a new women’s chapter in New Hampshire. The group is holding its first meeting on Tuesday, April 16th, and encourages anyone who is interested in learning more about this organization to attend.

Women Against Prostate Cancer (WAPC) is a national organization working to unite the voices and provide support for the millions of women and their families affected by prostate cancer. WAPC advocates prostate cancer education, public awareness, screenings, legislation, and treatment options.  Members of the group represent over 20 states and a variety of backgrounds and expertise.

“It is estimated that this year alone over 240,000 men will be diagnosed and approximately 33,000 men will die of prostate cancer. Women are also impacted by the disease, and we have to be pro-active to educate the men in our lives, says Betty Gallo, President of WAPC.

The New Hampshire chapter will be led by Kimberly Cronin of Manchester. Kimberly recently lost her own father to prostate cancer at the age of 62. She is committed to helping increase awareness of prostate cancer and encourages early-detection screening. “NH has a need for more information around prostate cancer. Our goal is to brand the blue ribbon and encourage young men to start being aware of prostate cancer screening. Our group plans to help women in our community who have family members affected by the disease as well as to reach out to the younger demographic to start early education. We plan to accomplish this by holding open-member meetings that will involve a social/networking aspect as well as an informational session. We also have plans for several fundraising activities for this year.” said Cronin.

The first networking meeting will be held on Tuesday April 16, 2013 6:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m. at the Waterworks Café in Manchester. Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar will be provided. For more information and to RSVP contact them at: nhwapcinfo@gmail.com or 603.867.2276
